Chris Shepherd's Southern Smoke festival has donated more than $1 million to people in the culinary industry, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and other efforts since 2015. It's one of the most successful food and drink events in the city, and does a lot of good for a lot of people.
Which makes it pretty remarkable that someone might steal something from the festival.
Shepherd announced Monday that sometime around 7 a.m. a thief pulled up by One Fifth Mediterranean and stole his Southern Smoke Pitmaker trailer.

So this morning around 7am the person in this truck (who had help from a lookout driving a black mustang) decided to steal our @southernsmoketx @pitmaker1 trailer. It’s super easy to recognize. If you see it please call the police and know that the people that have it are just plain bad people. Not just for stealing but stealing from a charity that helps take care of our community. I just don’t get why people do this but I sure would like to have it back so that we can continue to raise money for our organization and our industry. Please help me spread this around. I would love nothing more than for them not to be able to sell this trailer. #takingcareofourown #giveitback
According to Shepherd, the thief was in a pickup truck, and he or she had a lookout driving a black Ford Mustang.
Shepherd's hoping someone out there may have seen the trailer in the wild. We'll update this story with any new information that comes across.
