Shakti Baum wants you to wander and feast.

A new travel company focusing on food-centric experiences for hungry Houstonians has just launched from renowned local chef and food industry vet, Shakti Baum. Her new Wander + Feast Travel Co. aims to bring culinary adventures to those searching for the tastiest vacations, and the inaugural excursion heads to Yelepa, Jalisco, Mexico (near Puerto Vallarta) in just a few weeks, October 24-28.

Baum has worked as a chef at destinations across the world for over 20 years. Locally, she’s run Etta’s Kitchen, a Third Ward cooking school, culinary event space, and home to her popular Etta’s Brunch Pop-Up.  And guests on her Wander + Feasts trips can expect a sampling of her signature brunch items, too, which she'll prepare and serve on each trip along with the accompanying music stylings of DJ Big Reeks of The Waxaholics.

Verana will host Wander + Feast's first trip.

Guests on the first excursion to Yelepa will spend four nights at the boutique hotel, Verana, situated on a jungle hillside overlooking the Mexican coastline. Each day will feature a different culinary experience, including a candlelit taco party, welcome cocktails, “a la parilla” cooking class with local chefs, a four-course Mexican wine dinner, a cocktail class and mezcal tasting, and chef Baum's brunch. 

Also included in the trip’s price—starting at $1,500—are airport transfers, a boat transfer to the hotel, morning coffee, tea, and pastries, room service, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner (sans booze; except for the welcome cocktails and tastings).
