It's a big weekend for drinking. A bunch of breweries are holding their St. Patrick's Day parties on Sunday, some promising themed releases and maybe some green beer. Plus, one of the biggest breweries in town is having a birthday party. Get out there!

News & Events

It's 8th Wonder's birthday weekend. The brewery is turning 6, which means a lot of beer at WonderWorld, plus live music, food trucks, and more. A ticket gets you four beer tokens and a six-year specialty glass. The party starts at 2 p.m.

Saint Arnold is hosting a big St. Patrick's Day bash on Sunday. Hear live music from bands like the Real McCoys, Murder the Stout, Tomfooligans, and Dead Rabbits, and drink some special stouts while shoveling down some corned beef and cabbage. Party starts at 11 a.m., and it's free.

How about beer releases at City Acre on Sunday? Stop by between 11 a.m. and 8 pm. to get new stuff like Bellington Irish Red and Green-Eyed Blonde. Grub includes corned beef and cabbage.

At Holler it's the Puppies 4 Breakfast pre-party from noon-4 p.m. Sunday. The event benefits the Friends For Life Shelter. Bring your dog—there'll be barbecue and dog-friendly vendors, plus beer.

Walking Stick is going to have ponies at the brewery. Yes, ponies. Join them from noon-6 p.m. Saturday for a petting zoo. $5 gets you a cup of feed and unlimited entry to the petting zoo. You can also paint the ponies for $5. All of it supports Halter Inc., a nonprofit using animals to improve the lives of children, including those with special needs.

Tonight, join Brash Brewing Co. and Sigma Brewing Co. at the latter's East End brewery for a party to celebrate their Resilience IPA, which go toward helping people affected by the Camp Fire in California last November. The breweries will raffle off three-liter collectors bottles of the collaboration. The event starts at 5 p.m.

Beer Releases

Spindletap has two newbies coming your way: Too Green DIPA and Tiny Gypsies IPA. Too Green is just in time for St. Patrick's Day, brewed with Nelson hops and weighing in at 8.5 percent ABV. Tiny Gypsies is going to be hazy—it has Citra, Vic Secret, Azacca, and Motueka hops and scores 7.3 percent ABV. The brewery is reserving a bunch for sale starting noon Saturday.

New at Vallensons' is a boysenberry and blackberry beer, coming out this weekend. Also happening: a St. Patrick's party with crawfish. The party starts at noon Sunday with crawdads at 1 p.m. and music at 2 p.m.

At B-52 it's an after-school snack: Swiss Cake Rolls Rum for Breakfast. This beer tastes like Swiss Rolls in stout form.

A couple baseball-themed beers are out at Ingenious. Get a DIPA called Spring Training (8.2 percent ABV NEIPA with Mosaic, Loral, Ekuanot, and Cascade), a grapefruit version of it called Grapefruit League, and a pineapple-conditioned version called Ride the Pine. Also on: Peanut Butter Cinnamon Twist, Chocolate Covered Raspberry, and Vanilla Cream Filled Donut, all pastry stouts.

A bunch of beers coming up soon at Copperhead Brewery: Feeding Frenzy NEIPA (with Citra, Apollo, Amarillo, and Comet), Lil' Winston English-style Brown Ale (a Daisy Chain beer), Tangerine Striker IPA, Four Roses barrel-aged King of Terrors, and Willett Rye barrel-aged Black Venom. Whew.

And the Bakfish Daisy Chain effort is called Off Da Chain. This session IPA is coming in at 5.5 percent ABV and is available now.
