Esteemed Texas winery Messina Hof announced this week that it'll be opening its fourth location in the greater Houston area. Messina Hof Harvest Green Winery will break ground this year at Johnson Development's 1,300-acre master-planned Harvest Green community in Richmond.

The winery, designed by Ted Trout Architect & Associates and to be built by Crain Group, will have a tasting room, wine bar, and 130-seat restaurant plus a 2,600-square-foot covered patio for larger events and group tastings. Messina Hof plans for a hyper-local menu at the restaurant, with ingredients sourced from their own gardens and from Harvest Green's neighborhood farm. Down the line, Messina Hof plans to construct event space and limited lodging.

Vineyard harvesting and wine processing aging will take place onsite, and the winery hopes to run educational programming and work with local farmers on tastings.

"For 42 years Messina Hof has pioneered great Texas wine and built a loyal family of customers throughout Texas," said Paul Bonarrigo, co-owner and operator of the winery. "We are excited to continue our passion of providing delicious wine and food  in a new craft winery and kitchen located in Richmond, Texas."

Messina Hof, based in Bryant with additional locations in Fredericksburg and Grapevine, recently won six gold medals at the Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition at the 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
