Delfina Delettrez Fendi

Marry Me Eye and Lips Ring

Though she descends from fashion royalty, Delfina Delettrez Fendi has made a name for herself with her own work—in high-end jewelry. The Rome-based designer is known for surrealist pieces made from precious stones and metals. Her collections bridge past and present by melding the tradition of fine, Italian hand-crafting with post-modern, futuristic designs.

The fourth-generation heiress of the renowned luxury fashion house founded her namesake label, Delfina Delettrez, back in 2007 at just 19. Despite being raised around couture, Delettrez Fendi reportedly had no real design experience of her own when she placed a gemstone upside-down on her very first piece, a move that's since become her trademark; 12 years later, her unexpected designs have led to high-profile collaborations and store placements around the world.

Beehave Earrings

That includes one such collection with The Webster back in 2013, when Delettrez Fendi designed flamingo-inspired jewelry for the Miami-based luxury retailer with six boutiques, including one in Houston. The Webster still stocks Delettrez Fendi pieces today, including those with the designer's signature iconography—eyes, lips, pearls, concentric circles, and more.

Double Bubble Earcuff

Next week, Delettrez Fendi will make her first-ever Houston appearance at The Webster here, where she'll join founder and CEO Laure Hériard Dubreuil for "an afternoon of tea and high jewelry" from 3–5 p.m. on Monday, April 29.

Delettrez Fendi's latest work is rather minimalist: "She now subtracts," her website says, "viewing precious stones as self-sufficient in themselves and creating 'phantom settings' which give the illusion of fine jewels floating around the body.'"

She's also added bumblebees to her repertoire of symbols, often used with amber and honeycomb patterns in her "Garden of Delight" collection. It's fitting, then, that she can count the Queen Bee among her fans: none other than our very own Beyoncé has been spotted in Delettrez Fendi designs. Just like the Double Bubble Earcuff, it all comes full-circle.
