Source Vitál's "Better Than Tax-Free" Sale

When: Friday, August 9–Monday, August 12
Where: Source Vitál Apothecary, 1291 N Post Oak Rd.
What: You may have heard it's Tax-Free Weekend, but the exemptions don't apply to skincare products. No matter: You can still save on beauty thanks to a three-day sale at local favorite Source Vitál. The all-natural bath and body purveyor is doing one better than tax-free—which, if it applied, would save you 8.25 percent—and instead offering 25 percent off all products, both in-store and online (with code better25).

Movement by Michelob Ultra

When: Saturday, August 10; 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: Buffalo Bayou Park
What: Attention, Bachelor Nation: Shawn Booth—aka Shawn B., winner of Kaitlyn's season of The Bachelorette (though they called off their engagement last fall)—is coming to town in all his muscle-bound glory. Booth will lead "his signature BOOTHCAMP workout" (get it?!) at this day-long, multi-city, beer-sponsored wellness experience in Buffalo Bayou Park. Local faves like Black Swan Yoga and Dance House Fitness will also offer classes, and there will be restorative practices (crystal and reiki healing, sound baths, and meditation), recovery stations, and a live DJ. After a full day of sweating, you'll have fully earned a cold one (or three). Tickets are $35.

Back-to-School Fundraiser

When: Saturday, August 10; 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Where: Emerson Sloan (both locations), 2438 Rice Blvd. and 1319 S. Voss
What: Taking full advantage of the bump in business over Tax-Free Weekend, this local party store with Rice Village and Tanglewood locations is hosting a fundraiser for the Houston Food Bank's Backpack Buddy Program. Ten percent of the day's proceeds at both shops will go toward the program, which helps fight childhood hunger—of which one in four southeast Texas children are at risk—by providing healthy meals for kids to take home on weekends and during breaks, when they're unable to access the breakfast and lunch they often rely on at school.

MD Anderson Back-to-School Fashion Show

When: Saturday, August 10; noon–2:30 p.m.
Where: Galleria IV, lower level between Nordstrom and Macy's
What: Peep this year's most popular back-to-school trends as modeled by pediatric cancer patients and their siblings and caregivers during MD Anderson's annual free children's fashion show, part of the hospital's partnership with the Galleria. Before the show (which starts at 1 p.m.), kids can partake in face-painting and other family-friendly, interactive activities; after, a puppet show will educate children in grades K-4 on the dangers of smoking and vaping. The back-to-school bash is free, but fashion show seating is limited and can be reserved for $10 per person; donations are also accepted.

Sip & Shop Market

When: Saturday, August 10; 7–11 p.m.
Where: Bungalow Heights, 1919 Beall St.
What: The monthly nightly summer market concludes this weekend with local vendors, $5 Saint Arnold brews, and the chance to make your mark—literally—on the brewery's DIY art car.

Karbach Totally Radler Market & '80s Night

When: Sunday, August 11; noon–8 p.m.
Where: 2032 Karbach St.
What: Why limit the sipping and strolling to one day? Keep the fun going Sunday, when the heat index is high and the chances of hearing "Take On Me" are even higher at this '80s-inspired pop-up market celebrating, in our humble opinion, Karbach's very best variety (lemon ginger forever). Expect local goods, ice-cold radlers, and throwbacks from a live DJ, plus a free neon fanny pack when you buy a Biergarten pint setup. Score.
