The Covid-19 crisis is still ongoing, but relationship counsellors are warning of an increase in divorce filings once restrictions are lifted and life resumes to the “new normal.” This major global event has had a big impact on couples and families. With strained finances, child-care duties and parents thrust into the world of home-schooling, these have been testing times for many families.

The breakdown of a marriage can be a stressful and traumatic experience, especially where children are involved.

Papa Dieye started his family law practice in 2007 with the goal of helping families navigate difficult and stressful situations. Papa has always encouraged his clients to keep the lines of communication opened with their significant others and perhaps seek professional help to work on their relationships before seeking divorce proceedings.

"My advice is to wait a few months until life resumes some sense of normality before filing for divorce,” he says. “Work on your communication, be kind, respect each other’s space, make a plan for your finances and make time for your relationship. However, if you decide to file for divorce, it is important to get advice from a law firm that truly understands.”

Dieye Law emphasizes personal connection with their clients, offering the kind of individualized services you may not find in a large law office, says Papa. “Our size also enables us to represent clients efficiently, without layers of billing and mystery associates. Our team is here to make sure you get the right support, guidance and legal advice.”

Family law affects your family and your finances. The process is fraught with challenges and can be emotionally draining. So you owe it to yourself to sit down with an attorney who will thoroughly explain the process, answer all of your questions, and fight (really fight) for you. Wondering if your attorney has your best interest at heart should be the least of your worries during the divorce process.
