The city of Houston Hosts Special Veterans Day Ceremony

 

The City of Houston came together Thursday to salute our heroes at a special Veterans Day ceremony and patriotic parade. Mayor Sylvester Turner and city council members presented Daniel P. Moran, Marine veteran, and Purple Heart recipient, with a proclamation recognizing his service and valor.

 

Football star Peyton Manning was in town last week for the Houston Open. The NFL Hall of Famer signed 100 bottles of Sweetens Cove bourbon at the Spec’s Spirits & Finer Foods in Midtown. The bottles are priced at $200 and are on the shelves for a limited time. 

POST Houston hosted grand opening

 

The former post office building downtown was remodeled into a multipurpose venue and hosted its grand opening Saturday. The event opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and speeches from the developer, architects, and officials from The City of Houston.

Megan Thee Stallion named Glamour's Woman of the Year

 

Megan was honored Monday during Glamour's Women of the Year ceremony. She was introduced by pioneering female rapper, Pepa from the rap trio, Salt-N-Pepa.

 

Reginald DesRoches, who currently serves as Rice University’s provost, has been named as the next president of the local institution. He will become the eighth president of Rice when he assumes the position on July 1, 2022. DesRoches is the first person of color, and the first engineer to lead the school.

First Lady Jill Biden to visit Houston Sunday to urge parents to get children vaccinated

 

First Lady Jill Biden traveled to Houston Sunday to continue her efforts to urge parents and guardians to vaccinate their children. FLOTUS arrived Sunday along with U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. The two visited Texas Children's Hospital
