In May, the Houston Arts Alliance, in conjunction with airport officials, began accepting proposals for site-specific art works that might enliven the experience of visiting George Bush Intercontinental Airport. “This is not an advertisement for the city,” the announcement put it, “but a means to reveal Houston to travelers creatively.” At press time, winning proposals had not been selected, but if the following entries by airport-aware Bayou City artists are any indication, revealing Houston to travelers was very much on their minds.
