Breakthrough Houston (BTH), a tuition-free, college-preparatory program for high achieving, underserved students, announced February 29th, to a record-breaking crowd, that it will both expand and open a new site at KIPP CONNECT in June 2016.

Co-chairs Ting and John Bresnahan, Consuelo and Ian Macpherson, and Lauren and Brad Morgan, helped raise $150,000—a significant growth in proceeds over the previous year and experienced its largest event turnout yet with more than 450 guests. In the crowd were Courtney Sarofim, Laura Arnold, Aliyya Stude, Divya Brown, Lindley Arnoldy, James and Erin Stewart, Henry Richardson, Monsour Taghdisi, Sippi Khurana, and Courtney Toomey.

BTH aims to change these numbers by providing academic enrichment, leadership development, life skills, and college guidance to students from under-resourced families in Houston. Approximately 93 percent of the BTH participants qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and more than half will be the first in their family to attend college.
