With the right budget, connections and a closet full of tasteful designer day dresses, an ambitious Houstonian could attend a luncheon every day in the spring—two, most days. So when the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, set out to launch an annual Bayou Bend Fashion Show and Luncheon they pulled out all the stops. Under a tent with a view of the walking gardens and the house-museum, tables were decked out in pretty pink peonies, matching the rose hue of Miss Ima's beloved home, creating a vibrant spring ethos that belied a slight chill in the air, carried out in the resplendent spring fashions that walked the runway from The Webster. Director Gary Tinterow quoted society decorator Mario Buatta: "In Houston, they still appreciate pretty." In those gardens, how could you not?
