Forget Breakfast at Tiffany's: Last Tuesday, November 13 was lunch at Neiman's. A stylish crowd of more than 65 guests descended on the Galleria's Neiman Marcus for an exclusive fashion show and lunch by Mariposa, the department store's in-house restaurant.

The afternoon of fashion, fun, and philanthropy benefited the Houston Symphony League, an 80-plus-year-old organization that supports the Symphony with educational programs, fundraising, community relations, and special events. Originally founded as the Houston Symphony Society Auxiliary Committee in 1937 to promote season ticket sales, the group's first president was none other than Ima Hogg.

Today, the League's fundraising efforts have sent emerging musicians to competitions, purchased a Steinway piano for the orchestra, refurbished instruments for the Instrument Petting Zoo, and more.

At last week's "Celebrate in Style!" luncheon, Neiman Marcus PR Manager Stacey Swift organized a fashion presentation featuring seasonal looks from top designers like Gucci, Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Tom Ford, Alexander McQueen, Emilio Pucci, Carolina Herrera, and more. A musical performance by a Houston Symphony woodwind quartet—Judy Dines on flute, Anne Leek on oboe, Sasha Potiomkin on clarinet, and Rian Craypo on bassoon—served as the afternoon's soundtrack.

Guests enjoyed Mariposa's signature monkey bread along with chicken broth, roasted chicken fall salad, and flourless chocolate torte. After the show, they left with swag bags filled with goodies from Neiman Marcus, Blo Blow Dry Bar, and My Gym Uptown Houston.
