On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Houstonians came together for a delicious evening to support the No Kid Hungry campaign at Houston’s Taste of the Nation. Houston’s Taste of the Nation raised over $150,776 through local event proceeds and national partnerships. Held at Silver Street Studios, partygoers sipped and sampled gourmet cuisine and libations, crafted by the city’s top chefs, sommeliers and mixologists. Katherine Whaley of ABC13 acted as emcee of the event, and was joined on stage by native Houstonian and Executive Vice President of No Kid Hungry, Chuck Scofield. Co-chaired by four of Houston’s leading culinary figures Alba Huerta of Julep, Rebecca Masson of Fluff Bake Bar, Ryan Pera of Agricole Hospitality and Daniel Vaughn of Texas Monthly, the eventful evening included a silent auction with items such as an Old Tub Bourbon from Christ Shepherd’s private collection and a 5-course tasting at Riel, VIP gift bags, music from DJ John Tran and a door installation, that awarded one lucky guest a $1,500 Whole Foods shopping spree.

No child should go hungry in America, but 1 in 6 kids will face hunger this year. Using proven, practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger today by ensuring that kids start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can make sure kids get the healthy food they need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. Join us at NoKidHungry.org
