On the morning of Saturday, April 28, more than 150 yogis flocked to The Houstonian Hotel, Club and Spa to celebrate healthy living with Nora's Home during its second annual "Yoga on the Meadow." The event was presented by Green Bank and educated the public about the needs of organ failure and transplant patients while inspiring attendees to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Proceeds from the event benefitted transplant patients and their families staying at Nora's Home, which supports them during the trials of organ transplantation in the Texas Medical Center.
Nora's Home Executive Vice President, Kayla Lehmann, welcomed guests and took a moment to share her transplant journey and recognize Life Gift and Living Bank for their continuous support of transplant patients, donors and their families. Master of Ceremonies Sara Broussard along with "Yoga on the Meadow" Ambassadors, got the crowd excited for a yoga wonderland, which included free yoga classes throughout the day. Complimentary yoga mats were provided by Green Bank. In a friendly competition, yogis were able to show off their skills in a contest for arm balance, breathing, tree holding, plank and more. Prizes were awarded to the "best" and "judges choice" in each category.
Attendees were also given the chance to hear the powerful testimonial of Kathleen Wood who gave her son, William a kidney. Wood understands how important it is to be near the Texas Medical Center and is grateful that Nora's Home offers a place for families to stay during their transplant journey. Cher Harris, who received a kidney from her brother, also shared her story to help bring awareness for organ transplantation.
Guests strolled through the meadow to discover vendors while enjoying live music by the Anjali Project, a yoga class band that creates music for connecting bodies and breath. Vendors included Athleta, Awesome Bites Co, Bahia Bay Apparel, DoTerra, Element 5 OM, Green Bank, Kat's Healthy Delights, LifeGift, Mizu Integrative Medicine Clinic and Float Center, Painting with a Twist, Pura Sutra, Pure Oil Life, The Living Bank, Tutu Cute by Jacqueline Smooke, Urban Paths Houston and Volterra Energy. For a post-yoga workout meal, Gyro King food truck was on-site providing delicious and healthy options.
