Houston is full of under-the-radar creative youth. Exhibit A: Trevaughn James, the 22-year-old designer behind popular online skateboard brand Von Cre. Last weekend, fans and customers lined up at the downtown menswear store Posture Apparel for a Von Cre pop-up. The brand, spotted on popular entertainers, has already made a name for itself in the wide world of streetwear.
James, gracious for the large turnout, walked around the pop-up to thank everyone who attended. “I really want to make a name for myself in Houston,” he told Houstonia. “Von Cre is a skateboard brand, and I plan to continue to release more men's and women's products.”
While other cities like New York and L.A. are well known for their contributions to fashion and music, Houston is not to be slept on, and more young designers are emerging every day, boasting strong internet followings. Von Cre's pop-up included a DJ and special appearances from Houston rappers Don Toliver, Rizzo Rizzo, and Dice Soho; the collection is priced at $80 and up.
