Christmas got a little brighter for a few hundred Houston kids who nabbed presents from Rockets stars Clint Capela and Chris Paul this holiday season. The former teamed up with luxury realtor Nancy Almodovar of Nan & Company Properties for her fourth annual "Nan Cares" Toy Drive, donating more than 600 toys to children at Gulfton-area charter school Ser Niños Elementary.
Capela and Almodovar personally delivered the goods on Dec. 18. That weekend, point guard Chris Paul's charity, the Chris Paul Family Foundation, partnered with Academy Sports to surprise 200 children ages 5-11 with new bicycles and helmets. Though CP3 couldn't be there himself, more than 30 of his family members (including parents Charles and Robin) joined in the good cheer, and most flew in from Paul's hometown of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to participate.
The gifting took place at the Urban Enrichment Institute—formerly the Fifth Ward Enrichment Program—which has worked closely with Paul's foundation in the past. UEI is designed to empower boys to become responsible men and productive members of their families and communities.
Later that night, the Rockets won their game against the Spurs, 108-101. Happy holidays, indeed.
