Cuffing Season is real, and there's data to prove it: WeddingWire reports nearly 40 percent of engagements occur between Thanksgiving and Valentine's Day. In the industry, this period when temps begin to cool and passions heat up is also known as Engagement Season.

Each year, Galleria-area jeweler Robbins Brothers celebrates the upcoming occasion with a series of events meant to introduce jewelry lovers to this year's top-trending bling. Last week, they did it again with an intimate gathering of local influencers, media, and other diamond devotees who tried on rocks from designers like Tacori, Simon G., Henri Daussi, and more at "Diamonds and Desserts."

Guests mixed, mingled, and snapped plenty of selfies with sparkly stones. Chef Shay Atkins whipped up the treats, like bananas foster and some peanut butter chocolate goodness, while DJ Ill-Set kept the party on its feet. All guests left with a glittering bottle of champagne from Napa-based OneHope Wine—which donates to charities that benefit causes from animal welfare to ending childhood hunger for every bottle sold—and two nabbed necklaces raffled off by Robbins Brothers.

The party was invite-only, but this weekend brings another chance for diamond-dreamers across the city to inspect the Robbins Brothers latest inventory when the store hosts its Annual Designer Event on Friday, October 11 and Saturday, October 12. Thousands of rings from designers like A. Jaffe, Verragio, Henri Daussi, Michael M, Simon G and more will be brought in especially for the trunk show. What's trending this season, you ask? Keep an eye out for two-tone settings, fancy cuts, and asymmetrical designs, to name a few.
