As fall-like weather graced Houston, Houston Ballet trustees and supporters gathered with excitement at the brand-new Balthazar Cellars to kick off the 2019 Houston Ballet Ball, themed "Heroes, Gods and Stars." The Ballet Ball Committee and Ballet Ball co-chairs Kelley and Stephen Lubanko and Leigh and Reggie Smith welcomed nearly 75 guests to the event, which was complete with a beautiful fireplace spanning the length of the unique space.

Décor provided by The Events Company and Richard Flowers offered a sneak peek of the Grecian and mythical inspiration to come at the Ballet Ball, and partygoers enjoyed Greek-inspired hors d’ouerves by City Kitchen. Classical guitarist Mark Moore charmed guests as they browsed a gleaming display of jewelry by Tenenbaum Jewelers, Houston Ballet’s preferred jewelry partner.

Through a partnership with Houston Wine Merchant, guests were encouraged to donate wine in support of the Ballet Ball Wine Cellar. As a nod to this special contribution, Alisson de Monteclain, brand ambassador for Bonnete, provided three special wines for guests to taste: Chateau Pessan, Chateau d'Abzac, and Chateau de Malle.

Houston Ballet Board President Shawn Stephens offered remarks for the evening, and Kelley Lubanko and Leigh Smith thanked Leticia Loya and ConocoPhillips, the Ballet Ball honoree and corporate honoree, respectively, for their longstanding friendship to the Ballet. The crowd applauded Diane Lokey Farb, who is graciously underwriting entertainment for the Ballet Ball.

The Ballet Ball is scheduled to take place on February 9 at the Houston Ballet Center for Dance.
