The Face of Hope

Dr. Sasi Yallampalli is the Radiology Director at Memorial Hermann Southeast and Memorial Hermann Pearland hospitals in Houston, Tx. He has been an Interventional Radiologist for eight years, as well as working with Synergy Radiology, an affiliate of Radiology Partners that offers a full-service practice with state-of-the-art imaging. Through collaboration of multidisciplinary teams, multiple expert opinions can be offered to individualize each treatment plan. Using this approach keeps each patient and their treatment plan continuously in the forethought of physician discussion within the treatment team, allowing each team member the ability to provide the most optimal, comprehensive, and personalized treatment plan for the patient.
Interventional Radiology continues to be a rapidly evolving field on the cutting edge of medicine. Treatments, that in the past would have required extensive surgeries can easily be done through Interventional Radiology. Patients return home after the out-patient procedure with a mere band aid covering the small incision. Dr. Yallampalli has a special interest in Interventional Radiology because of it’s ability to provide these minimally invasive procedures. In doing this, it continues to enhance what can be offered in the treatment of cancer. Dr. Yallampalli stresses the importance of a very special, personalized care plan for every patient he treats, in providing the best possible outcome. He monitors the complexity of the disease process, along with the personal struggles an individual patient endures with their cancer journey, to minimize issues that could hinder the overall outcome.
Some of the various treatments provided through Interventional Radiology treat tumors throughout various
parts of the body including but not limited to, the liver, bone, kidneys, and other metastatic cancers. Comprehensive treatments such as microwave ablation, chemoembolization, and radioembolization are performed. Dr. Yallampalli has been fortunate to work diligently with a committed team of specialized nurses, radiology technologists and physician’s assistants who have all helped to shape and drive this program at both hospitals where he practices. Dr. Yallampalli praises the teams he works with stating they go “Above and Beyond” in helping provide specialized care for each patient.
Y90 radioembolization is the most cutting edge, minimally invasive option for treating liver cancer which helps to greatly improve the quality of life for cancer patients. This outpatient treatment involves the injection of tiny microspheres containing radioactive material into the specific arteries that supplies blood flow to each tumor, effectively killing the tumor from within. Dr. Yallampalli has just recently completed his 100th Y90 procedure, which has proven to be a very special milestone in his career. Having grown up in the local area of Clear Lake adds a personal significance to him, as he is able to help give back to the community from which he came. As the “Face of Hope”, Dr. Yallampalli is hopeful that one day cancer will be a memory of the past making him especially excited to be part of this rapidly growing field of tumor therapy.
