Party on the Plaza Heading Online for Special Benefit Show

Get ready to party on the plaza … of your house. This morning, Houston First Corporation announced that the always popular Party on the Plaza will return on May 2 for a special, virtual concert, benefiting the Houston Food Bank.

Ryan Bingham, St. Paul and the Broken Bones, and Robert Randolph & The Family Band, who were slated to headline Party on the Plaza’s spring shows, will perform at this star-studded benefit. Other performers include Woodlands native Hayes Carll and Bayou City soul band The Suffers, as well as Seattle’s The Dip, Grammy winners Grupo Fantasma, and Sir Woman, the newest side project from Kelsey Wilson, lead vocalist of Austin indie pop band Wild Child.

Also scheduled to make appearances during the broadcast are Alex Bregman of the Astros, KHOU 11’s Deborah Duncan, James Beard-winning chef Hugo Ortega, rapper Bun B, H-E-B president Scott McClelland, and Mayor Sylvester Turner, according to a press release.

All proceeds from the special concert will go to the Houston Food Bank, which according to the release, has been working at 150 percent distribution, handing out 750,000 pounds of food daily, to meet the increasing need caused by the pandemic.

The first hour of the benefit show will air 7 p.m. May 2 on KHOU. The full program and extended contact will be available to stream on YouTube and Facebook.
