LAST SUNDAY’S 5TH ANNUAL ALL WHITE CHARITY FASHION SHOW at Hotel Derek raised awareness—and funds—for suicide prevention. Ten percent of proceeds from the yearly event benefited the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

“Throughout the planning process we noticed that a lot of the ills that plague the world drove people to ending their lives,” said LaToya Hurley of event organizer Innovating Marketing Group. “We wanted to have a greater impact with this philanthropic endeavor and chose suicide prevention.”

A VIP mixer kicked off the evening with music from violinist Alberto Graulau, live painting by John Whaley Jr., and a live fashion presentation from designer Yen Couture Jewelry. The evening was hosted by Sophia Ortiz, Miss Teen Texas Global.

San Antonio-based contemporary designer Britney Newman opened the show with vibrant colors, houndstooth patterns, and cut-out dresses. Next came suits for any occasion from clothier John Lee of Another Level Apparel.

As intermission concluded, R&B and pop artist Ashley Toman gave guests a taste of her forthcoming single, “Thank You for Nothing,” to be released in the weeks to come.

Danny Nguyen Couture showed his Fall/Winter Ready-to-Wear 2018 collection full of sequins, lace, tulle, and pleather—for inspiration, the designer cited rock ‘n’ roll, freedom, and self-expression.

The evening concluded with Alexandria Lee Designs‘ showcase of her Spring/Summer 2018 collection. Models walked the runway in a printed off-the-shoulder jumpsuit, a crop top and boho skirt of Italian paint-stroke chiffon, and numerous gowns from Lee’s formal collection paired with handmade handbags from Laro, whose mission is to “empower women while advocating for underprivileged and marginalized communities around the world, specifically through supporting indigenous artisans and joining the fight against human trafficking.”
