The summer heat couldn’t stop over 100 of the city’s most talented dentists and doctors from gathering poolside at Hotel ZaZa Museum District. The private event celebrated those named in the May and August issues of Houstonia for their achievement as top performers in their respective dental or medical fields.Â
With a light breeze blowing, event guests became newly acquainted and caught up with old colleagues over signature cocktails sponsored by Beam Suntory and a delicious spread provided by Hotel ZaZa. On the menu was a Maker’s 46 Manhattan, an El Tesoro Margarita, an El Tesoro Paloma, as well as highballs from the House of Suntory line featuring Toki whisky, Roku gin and Haku vodka. The libations paired perfectly with the cookout-themed buffet featuring smoked sausage kabobs in a chipotle barbecue glaze, pulled pork sliders on brioche buns, loaded steak fries, and mini pecan pies for dessert.
Event entertainment included a photo booth with clever props sponsored by Ann Sacks, who also had a display setup with hand-picked tile selections from their showroom in West Ave. DJ Stella spun summer tunes as some guests played a few rounds of ping pong and while many sought answers to their burning questions with a palm or tarot card reading from the psychic brought in specifically for the event.Â
Before everyone went their separate ways—either home or to have an after-party bite at Monarch restaurant—raffle winners were drawn at random. Prizes included a basket to stock your bar from Beam Suntory, a night’s stay and dinner for two from Hotel ZaZa and an Oregon wine basket from Ann Sacks’s home state. Fortunately, no one left empty-handed, as swag bags filled with goodies were passed out to honorees on their way out the door.Â
