MD Anderson Cancer Center has a longtime supporter in Paige Fertitta, local philanthropist and wife of billionaire CEO Tilman, who for more than 15 years has hosted an annual holiday trunk show for the Children’s Art Project, which just celebrated its 46th anniversary.

Fertitta once again opened her home for the event last week to kick off the holiday season and fundraise for the program, which sells merchandise inspired by MD Anderson pediatric cancer patients’ artwork.

That includes 10-year-old artist Lara Amer, a Burkitt lymphoma cancer survivor whose work is depicted on various giftable products like note cards, tote bags, and a Radko holiday ornament. The latter features Lara’s colorful scene of bluebonnets and butterflies on hand-crafted, tempered glass.

Joined by her mother, Mai Ramadan, Lara posed for photos, signed autographs, and shared personal reflections on her designs at last week’s trunk show. MD Anderson supporters milled about the patio at the Fertitta family home, where they enjoyed a gourmet luncheon and dessert buffet while shopping for holiday cards, gifts and apparel. All proceeds from the sale support patient programs for children with cancer.

“It was a pleasure to open our home and continue support of the Children’s Art Project,” Fertitta said in a press release. The Fertittas have helped raise more than $2 million for research and pediatric cancer patient programs over the years, including through donations to the Children’s Art Project trunk shows and their annual “Santa’s Elves” holiday party.

Children’s Art Project products are available online and in MD Anderson gift shops and select retailers.
