RESILIENCE, STRENGTH, AND GRATITUDE brought together over 400 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel on Dec. 3 to celebrate the brave clients of The Women’s Home at reNew & reDo: A Triumphant Affair.

The 62 year-old non-profit helps women and families reclaim their lives after facing addiction, homelessness, and mental illness. Weaving in elements of style to a very serious mission, the program opened up with a fashion show featuring items from the Cottage Shop, the beloved resale boutique owned and operated by The Women’s Home. The models, primarily clients and supporters of the organization, worked the catwalk with so much energy and vigor, welcoming guests and making everyone excited to be in attendance.

Following the show, emcee Rebecca Spera Valentino of ABC13 sat down with honored guest Jodie Sweetin of the ’90s hit sitcom Full House and author of UnSweetined. Sweetin shared her own struggles with addiction and her path to recovery. After the telling conversation, a client graduate of The Women’s Home was welcomed to the stage, where she shared her personal story—including what it finally took for her to escape the cycle of addiction—and earned a standing ovation.

CEO Anna Coffey presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Houston philanthropist Jane Cizik and the Champion of The Women’s Home Award to SOK Salon on Kirby owner Alden Clark.

The elegant event raised nearly $250,000 for The Women’s Home.
