While the Super Bowl itself will be held at NRG Stadium on Sunday, most of the action is downtown, centered around Super Bowl Live at Discovery Green and the NFL Experience inside the George R. Brown Convention Center. While the NFL Experience costs $35 (or $25 for children) to enter, wandering around Discovery Green and taking in all the live tapings, evening concerts, various celebrities and giant football helmets is free.
Wondering if you should brave the traffic and make it out? Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at both Super Bowl Live and the NFL Experience sans crowds so you can gauge for yourself. (Personally, we think the $35 admission to admire Super Bowl rings, wander a traveling Pro Football Hall of Fame museum, compete against your favorite [virtual] athletes in various runs and plays, and watch live as Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen film their shows live—among many other displays and games in the convention center—is pretty worth it.)
