Houston—humid, car-dependent, sprawling Houston—wants to be the next great cycling city. Surprised? So were we. Then we saw plans for the ambitious, 150-mile network of bayou-side bike trails, already partially completed, as well as a citywide bikeways initiative will encourage and allow Houstonians to better navigate the city safely on two wheels. If all goes as planned, the Bayou City will have more continuous hike and bike trails than any other city in the country by the end of the decade, thereby making Houston a healthier, safer and more fun place to live. So what are you waiting for? Gear up!
