Food Bank Needs Help Packing Quarantine Kits

The Houston Food Bank is getting out in front of any potential government response regarding the spread of COVID-19 in the area, and it could use your help.

The Food Bank is assembling quarantine food kits for the population it serves. While the kits aren’t being requested right now, the organization is preparing for the possibility that a quarantine is deemed necessary.

The kits, made to last for seven to 14 days, contain shelf-stable, ready-to-eat products including protein, grains, produce, and dairy.

Volunteers are wanted to help pack the food kits. Sign up for a shift at houstonfoodbank.org; shifts are available at the Food Bank—at 535 Portwall St.—from 8 a.m. to noon Monday–Saturday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday–Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Shifts begin 8 a.m. Wednesday.
