Houstonians have fallen head over heels for this fully updated, 1940s-era two-story home in the charming Southgate community, just steps away from Rice Village at 2428 Dryden Rd.
Listing Agent Heidi Dugan, a top realtor with Greenwood King Properties, told Houstonia that she had already received six offers on the home as of Thursday morning—after it had been on the market for about two days.
“You can see that people really appreciate when things are done right,” she says.
The 2,200-square-foot, three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home—which hit the market this week for just under $1.3 million—is so right indeed.
The current owners purchased the property in 2018 and overhauled and upgraded just about every space, while thoughtfully maintaining much of the traditional character that had been hidden under a ’90s-era renovation for years.
Hardwood floors run throughout, along with a cool white and gray color palette, highlighted by loads of natural light that comes pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the home.
A brand-new kitchen with white marble countertops and slab backsplash is elegant, clean, and kept neat through smart-appliance garages and a cleverly constructed pantry. A tucked-away “mom office” and powder room flow off the kitchen as just another example of the current owner’s efficient use of space in the redesign. And did we mention there’s a wine fridge?
“The attention to detail and [the owner’s] taste was just amazing,” Dugan adds.
The backyard of the 6,900-square-foot lot was dramatically revamped, too, with a new heated pool and designated spaces to dine and unwind.
“Particularly right now with Covid, everyone wants a nice space where they can be outside,” Dungan adds.
A guest house was also built in the back corner of the lot, with a large, light-filled bedroom and en suite bath—a perfect private space for visitors or (more realistically) a great set-up for a secluded at-home office.
