Between the whimsical wallpaper, custom art installation, and expert blend of modern and antique pieces, Karen Pulaski’s West U home is practically a showroom. It should come as no surprise, then, to learn that Pulaski herself is an interior designer and the owner and founder of luxury Italian linen company Tribute Goods.

Pulaski’s love of art, design, and color is on full display in her five-bedroom, six-bathroom home, now listed for $2.19 million. An extensive remodel of the 2001 home added custom work like handmade piano finish cabinetry in the kitchen and an art installation in the living and dining rooms by Marco Villegas, whose work is also featured in the MFAH.

Other drool-worthy amenities include the family room’s 18th century French fireplace, a chef’s kitchen with high-end appliances and an extra-large range, a master suite with two large showroom closets, four en-suite bathrooms, and a pool that appears straight out of a Mediterranean villa thanks to Ann Sacks tile work and Turkish limestone decking in the courtyard. There’s also a full entertaining area and an air-conditioned pool bath with a 17th century French sink.

The 4,770-square-foot, two-story home sits on .17 acres on Sewanee Avenue in the heart of West U—one of our top 10 neighborhoods of 2018, particularly for families.

Abby Ledoux traded Canada’s border for Mexico’s when she moved to Texas from northwestern Vermont in November 2017 to join the staff at Houstonia. An alumna of Emerson College’s journalism program in Boston, Abby was previously associate editor of three weekly newspapers in her home state of Vermont. There, she covered everything from Bernie Sanders to the heroin epidemic and won numerous state and regional awards for her work, including the Vermont Press Association’s 2014 Rookie of the Year. She was also an investigative reporting fellow at the New England First Amendment Coalition. Today, Abby is excited to explore Houston’s vibrant, diverse culture (and shopping scene). Aside from fashion and design, she’s passionate about politics, hip hop and Mexican food. She believes leopard is a neutral and red lipstick can fix almost anything.
