Party City: How to Throw the Perfect Celebration in Houston

On any given day in Houston, celebrations are unfolding all over town. A quinceañera court struts through the Galleria before heading out to the main event; a gaggle of bachelorettes toasts their bride on a River Oaks patio; a group of friends convenes over apps for a housewarming in Montrose; coworkers toast record sales at Karbach.

And ahead of all of these events? Someone, somewhere has put in the time and effort to make sure they go perfectly, planning for every last detail: venues, caterers, cakemakers, signature cocktails, entertainers, photo-ops, gifts. The greatest celebrations feel effortless—even though none of them are, of course.

Want to throw the best bash in Bayou City? We at Houstonia decided to do the leg work for you with this guide, even asking local pros to share their secrets. All that’s left to do? Find an excuse to host one. Given how much Houstonians love a good party, we’re sure you’ll think of something.

A Life, in Parties

The parties we throw become snapshots we carry with us forever, monuments to moments big and small.

She was also an investigative reporting fellow at the New England First Amendment Coalition. Today, Abby is excited to explore Houston’s vibrant, diverse culture (and shopping scene).
