Get the Red-Carpet Treatment When You Vote at Toyota Center on Saturday

Wearing those latex finger gloves (aka the finger condoms) while voting might not be glamorous, but walking the red carpet to vote sure is. Early voters who cast their ballots at the Houston Toyota Center on Saturday, October 24, will get to do just that, thanks to MTV.

The cable network has partnered with the Houston Rockets and Harris County Clerk’s Office to host a star-studded event in honor of the first-ever nationwide Vote Early Day. Local celebrities set to make an appearance at this celebration of civic responsibility include Mayor Sylvester Turner; Houston Rockets’ mascot Clutch the Bear; and Kam Franklin, front-woman of Bayou City soulsters The Suffers.

Seriously, there’s going to be an actual red carpet that voters can strike a pose on after they cast their ballots.

But that’s not all. As part of parent company ViacomCBS’s “Vote For Your Life” campaign, the cable network has also teamed up with local artist Anat Ronen to create a special chalk mural on Discovery Green’s Performance Plaza.

Harris County has already seen record numbers during early voting. In fact, more than a million ballots have been cast so far. More than 9,000 individuals voted at the Toyota Center, a first-time polling and drive-thru location.

And you can still be part of Harris County voter history even if you can’t cast your ballot this Saturday. Early voting runs through October 30, and Election Day is November 3.
