The Post Oak Little League Is World Series Bound

The Astros aren’t the only Houston baseball team never settling this year.

The Post Oak Little League 12s, who won the Texas East title on July 14, defeated—no, dominated—Tulsa National Little League 8-0 Wednesday to win Little League Baseball’s Southwest Region. That means the Post Oak Little League 12s will join seven American teams and eight teams from across the world in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in the 2018 Little League World Series.

In the final, Post Oak scored two first-inning runs, then added two in the third and four in the fourth. Cade West doubled and drove in three, Richie Klosek added a two-run home run, and Andrew Stover also collected two RBI. Post Oak pitching limited the Tulsa squad to just two hits, with Ryan Selvaggi striking out eight without allowing a hit in four innings. Pitcher Carter Pitts struck out four in two innings.

Post Oak went 4-0 in the eight-team Southwest Regional, which started Thursday and took place in Waco. Teams in the regional included representatives from Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas West, along with the Tulsa Oklahoma team and Post Oak.

The champs, who are located at 5700 San Felipe, beat their opponents by a combined score of 43-5, shutting out Tulsa in back-to-back games. It’s their first time in the Little League World Series.

Post Oak continues their quest to be the best little league squad in the world on August 16 when it meets the New England Region champion in Williamsport.
