The Houston Texans hosted the New York Giants at NRG Stadium on Sunday, September 23. After opening the year on the road, this was the first home game of the season for Houston.

The Texans were looking to rebound from losses against the New England Patriots and the Tennessee Titans, but unfortunately, couldn’t stay ahead of the Giants, losing 27-22.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning looked like the player who won two Super Bowls, throwing close to 300 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. contributed with nine receptions and 109 yards catching.

The Texans defense lead by JJ Watt kept the game within reach in the second half. Watt recorded three sacks in the game, along with three tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, and a forced fumble.

Texans’ quarterback DeShaun Watson bested Manning by throwing for 385 yards and two touchdowns, but he also allowed two turnovers during the game.

“We’ve got a long season ahead of us,” receiver DeAndre Hopkins said after the game. “We’ve got good guys in this locker room. We’ve got to pay better attention to detail. It hurt us big today. So we’ll just come out this week at practice and lock in.”

“Personal stats don’t matter at all in a loss,” JJ Watt said in the post-game press conference. “Losing sucks!”

Former Texans fan favorite Connor Barwin, now a member of the Giants, had a chance to connect with his old team after the game. He was all smiles as he was greeted by Whitney Mercilus, JJ Watt, and Jon Weeks.
