Super Bowl 51 By the Numbers

Super Bowl LI is quickly approaching, but there’s still time to purchase your spot at NRG Stadium. With help from StubHub, we’ve put together a look at the numbers, including ticket prices, which states are the top ticket buyers, average prices through the years and more.

It’s no surprise that Texans are the No. 1 customers for the Big Game, making up 23 percent of sales. After the Falcons’ win at the NFC Championship last Sunday, tickets purchased by fans in the Atlanta area spiked by 1,049 percent in comparison to last week, making Georgia the second-most represented state. Numbers have also increased in Massachusetts, and they’re likely to grow as we get closer to the Big Game. Although not indicated on the map above, Mexico and Canada make up 7 percent of total ticket sales.

Tickets sold for Super Bowl LI range from $2,600 to $15,432, in comparison to $1,222 to $26,983 for Super Bowl 50. The most expensive ticket purchased to date was $15,432 for the lower prime section of the stadium, while the cheapest ticket was $2,600 in the upper corner section. Right now, the best deal for a ticket is $2,800.

A breakdown of the contenders for each Super Bowl game in the past four years:

  • Super Bowl XLVII: Feb. 3, 2013, Ravens vs 49ers
  • Super Bowl XLVIII: Feb. 2, 2014, Seahawks vs Broncos
  • Super Bowl XLIX: Feb. 1, 2015, Patriots vs Seahawks
  • Super Bowl 50: Feb. 7, 2016, Panthers vs Broncos

And, last but not least, a countdown until we can all drink beer, eat food and watch the game unfold.
