Beyoncé Was a Glittery, Naked Queen at the Met Ball

How to make sure there’s only one image that comes to mind when people think of you at the Met Ball? If you’re Beyoncé, you show up in a totally sheer custom Givenchy Haute Couture gown by Riccardo Tisci that’s embedded with crystals in all the right places, like the queen that you are. Bonus: we’re sure it made Bill O’Reilly clutch every last one of his pearls.

Then pair it with the high ponytail that I wore in my first grade class photo because it’s still dope, and then post some pictures that look like they were taken in Terry Richardson’s basement, because who needs a red carpet, I guess.

On the other end of the fashion spectrum (the end where there’s fabric that’s not see-through), Rihanna’s fierce golden dragon realness in the form of an endless fur-lined gown by Chinese designer Guo Pei put everyone else on notice that the “China: Through the Looking Glass” theme does not just mean wear red and call it a night.

Solange, still fresh off having the coolest wedding ever, went for an avant garde look from Giles Deacon which looked a little like a flying saucer from the front, with tiny pleats all over to give the gown the illusion of movement—it almost looked like a hologram. So weird but cool and undeniably pretty, which is exactly what we love about Solange.

When @cartier is your date, and Giles is your dress.
