Shop Like an Influencer at This Closet SaleĀ

Keli Rabon

Scroll through Instagram on any given day, and you’ll see fabulously posed photos of influencers in fabulous locations and fabulous clothes. I can totally do that, you think, before scoping through your closet and realizing all of your pre-pandemic clothes (we all know you only bought biker shorts and loungewear last year) are very much unfabulous.Ā

Well, folks, now’s your time to change … literally—get out of your ratty T-shirt and skinny jeans and shop elevated styles and the best fashion during a May 19 influencer pop-up sale at the River Oaks Shopping Center.

During the ā€œBlogger Closet Sale,ā€ put on by local marketing company madmeg, visitors can browse accessories and clothing pieces straight from the closetsĀ ofĀ nine of Houston’s most fashion-forward influencers, like Madiha Dhanani and Keli Rabon. You’ll find gently worn designer items in a variety of styles, occasions, and sizing, Kathryn Durkin, madmeg’s PR specialist, tells Houstonia. ā€œEverything from shoes to hand bags to dresses, tops and jeans.ā€Ā

Says Durkin, the sale is one of madmeg’s most popular events. ā€œThere’s never not been a line out the door prior to the event.ā€Ā

Masks are required, but you can really live that glamorous, carefree influencer lifestyle while sipping champagne and munching on other light bites as you shop.Ā

All sales will be through Venmo. Anything that isn’t bought will be donated to Arms of Hope.

As for the influencers, the diverse group of women at the event ā€œare some of the most well known names in the city and looked to for fashion trends,ā€ says Durkin. See the complete list below.Ā

6–8 p.m. May 19. River Oaks Shopping Center, 2022 West Gray St., between Barnes &Ā Noble and La Griglia. Learn more here.

A native Austinite, Catherine Wendlandt spent almost six years in the Midwest for college and graduate school at the University of Missouri (MIZ). While there, she talked about Texas and missed queso so much she had to come back.  In school, she worked as a city government reporter and page designer for the Columbia Missourian, a communications intern at a local jazz company, a food editor and later the managing editor at Vox Magazine, and a research assistant for the Association of Health Care Journalists. She's worked in Missouri, Dallas, and Barcelona, Spain, and interned for Houstonia in 2018, when she fell in love with everything about the city, except maybe the traffic and mosquitos.  When she's not at work, you can find Catherine curled up reading a good book, out exploring local parks, taking lots of sunset pictures, and trying to pet every dog she sees (in spite of the allergies).
