The To-Doux List: October 10-13

THE TO-DOUX LIST is lifestyle editor Abby Ledoux’s weekly roundup of pop-ups, markets, and whatever else she feels like doing around Houston each Friday–Sunday (generally). To submit an event for consideration, email details to aledoux@houstoniamag.com.

National Handbag Day Pop-Up

When: Thursday, October 10; 6:30–8:30 p.m.
Where: Intermix, River Oaks District
What: This sacred holiday is worth breaking with tradition to include a Thursday evening on the weekend roundup, if we do say so ourselves. Grab your girls and get to ROD for light bites, champagne, and a chance to peruse Intermix’s fall arrivals plus the luxury labels of Bag Romance, a Houston-based online handbag rental service. (See here for our chat with CEO Paola Kustra.)

Annual Designer Event

When: Friday, October 11 (10 a.m.–8 p.m.) and Saturday, October 12 (10 a.m.–7 p.m.)
Where: Robbins Brothers, 2102 W Loop S.
What: Looking to put a ring on it? Come one, come all: Thousands of rings from top designers like Simon G, Henri Daussi, and more arrive in Houston specifically for this yearly trunk show of the season’s top-trending styles.

Runway Houston

When: Friday, October 11; 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Where: Paper Co. Cafe, 1100 Elder St.
What: The biannual fashion presentation returns for its 11th season to showcase designers like Aries Milan, Sameera Faridi, and Engomichu, plus—new this year—a segment of influencer-approved looks hosted by Miss Texas USA 2018 Logan Lester. Tickets are $25–100.

TRAP Karaoke

When: Friday, October 11; 8 p.m.–midnight
Where: Warehouse Live, 813 Saint Emanuel St.
What: The brainchild of a music festival organizer, this wildly popular “user-generated concert experience”—on tour around the country—lets you realize the pipe dream of being a hip-hop star for the night. Previous iterations have seen stage appearances from actual A-listers like Lizzo and 2 Chainz. As if that’s not enough, one web testimonial describes it as such: “TRAP Karaoke is like going to church…but instead of ‘Amazing Grace,’ you’re singing ‘Back That Azz Up.'” Um, sold. 21+, tickets start at $22.

Beauty Chef Ship ‘n Shop

When: Saturday, October 12; 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: Lemon Laine, 714 Yale St. Suite 1K
What: Pop in our fave Heights Mercantile natural beauty shop to customize your own nutrient-rich smoothie with The Beauty Chef, the Australian-based wellness brand behind “Inner Beauty” formulas to help you achieve everything from better gut health to glowing skin. Free; no RSVP required.
