The sun went down and DJ Sun came out to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston last Friday for the first MFAH Mixed Media event of the year. The monthly series transforms the cultural complex into a toned-down yet chic rave with drinks flowing and DJs spinning an assortment of eclectic tracks.
Fashionable guests were in high spirits as crowds clustered around the stage to catch a glimpse of accomplished artist DJ Sun spinning a distinctive blend of Jazz and Funk. The warmed up crowd then welcomed L.A.-based DJ Dâm Funk. Known as the “Ambassador of Boogie Funk” he mixed an intricate set of well-known tracks to the obscure from Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk genres.
While modern music aficionados flooded the outside patio, classic art enthusiasts explored the museums’ refined collection. The Impressionism exhibit was open for guests to walk through and bask in the marvelous works of Renoir, Degas and Monet. Just as the impressionism movement drew to a reluctant end, so did the evening as the young crowd dispersed to the after party hosted at Houston’s hipster lounge The Flat.
Take a peek at the event that brought the museum to life at night.
