Who doesn’t love meandering through NRG, mimosa in hand, admiring the best that the Houston Ballet’s annual Nutcracker Market has to offer? While we’re not able to physically explore the annual market of holiday cheer this year because of Covid, you can still have a holly jolly time—and empty your wallet—online. The virtual platform is easily navigable and fun to use, from the bookmarking feature to the live chat offering you chances to both connect with sellers and to gush with other shoppers over the must-have items you’ve found. And, of course, there are all of the fabulous presents just waiting for you to hit “purchase.”

There are tons of items on offer, from the cutest handbags to the jean jacket that even your impossible-to-buy-for sister-in-law will love. But if you don’t have time to fall down the Nutcracker Market online rabbit hole (the month-long sale goes until December 11), we’ve got you covered with this roundup of some of our favorite pieces.

Catherine Wendlandt
Catherine Wendlandt
A native Austinite, Catherine Wendlandt spent almost six years in the Midwest for college and graduate school at the University of Missouri (MIZ). While there, she talked about Texas and missed queso so much she had to come back.  In school, she worked as a city government reporter and page designer for the Columbia Missourian, a communications intern at a local jazz company, a food editor and later the managing editor at Vox Magazine, and a research assistant for the Association of Health Care Journalists. She's worked in Missouri, Dallas, and Barcelona, Spain, and interned for Houstonia in 2018, when she fell in love with everything about the city, except maybe the traffic and mosquitos.  When she's not at work, you can find Catherine curled up reading a good book, out exploring local parks, taking lots of sunset pictures, and trying to pet every dog she sees (in spite of the allergies).
