Bali fire dancers greeted guests at the new Post Oak Hotel during Saturday’s annual Houston Symphony Ball.Â
More than 530 attended the evening styled after the Balinese Room, the infamous Galveston club and illicit casino jutting out into the Gulf. Palm trees, orchids, and floral patterns added a festive atmosphere to the ball as guests bid on fitting luxe silent auction items. Lucky guests walked away with a one-week stay in the Hamptons, a four-person Piney Woods hunting trip, a 12-meat spread with wine pairings from B&B Butchers, and more.
Chaired by Robin Angly and Miles Smith, along with Co-Chairs Darrin Davis and Mario Gudmundsson, the evening ultimately raised $1.33 million for the Houston Symphony’s education and community programming. Dinner from the hotel’s Executive Chef Jean-Luc Royere included herb-roasted beef tenderloin and piña colada coconut mousse, and revelers ended the night boogying to New York-based DJ Kalkutta.
