Super chairs Kelley Lubanko and Kelli Weinzierl packed the house April 20 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel for the 17th Annual Spirit of Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show benefiting The Children’s Assessment Center. Over 520 supporters were in attendance to help raise a record breaking $430,000 for programs that are critical to the healing of child victims of sexual abuse.
Neiman Marcus presented the fashions of MILLY, and designer Michelle Smith was present as guests enjoyed her latest spring and summer looks. Mark Wallace, President and CEO of Texas Children’s Hospital, was the luncheon’s honoree, as the CAC and TCH have partnered together since 2004, providing medical services to 9,715 sexually abused children. Former Miss America Marilyn Van Derbur spoke, bringing the crowd to their feet as she shared her story of triumph over tragedy as an incest survivor.
The luncheon ended with a live auction for a highly coveted piece from Chopard Boutique, a ring encrusted with 76 diamonds.
