Tony Buzbee's former River Oaks home is now on the market.

U.S. dollars may be the traditional way to pay for a home, but a Houston mansion is taking it up a notch. A new River Oaks listing 一 priced at $27.5 million 一 announced that it will accept Bitcoin as a form of payment.

Cryptocurrency has been making its way to the mainstream 一 from Coinbase’s floating QR code during the Super Bowl, to the invention of the novel meme coin Doge, the world of virtual currency is making its way into our daily lives. In Houston, hospitality group Landry’s, headed by Tillman Fertitta, started a Bitcoin rewards program for its multiplicity of restaurants, and now a local real estate company is joining in on the action.

Wine cellar and tasting room located at 1722 River Oaks Boulevard.

The home, listed by Douglas Elliman, is located on 1722 River Oaks Boulevard and was also the former residence of high power Houston attorney, Tony Buzbee. The 12,209 square foot dwelling, just a stone's throw from the River Oaks Country Club, is filled with stories -- like a visit from Donald Trump in 2016, and a marine veterans World War II tank parked out front of his home.

The home has seen a steep 96 percent price increase, as Buzbee originally purchased the estate in 2013, for $14 million. Cryptocurrency calculator Paxful priced the home at roughly 622 Bitcoin.

The high-priced home is filled with first-rate amenities like a gym, home theater, game room, and six-car garage. Complete with five bedrooms and five-and-a-half-bathrooms, the modern Tudor home first greets you with a brick façade and an imported French antique stone walkway. The interior was decorated by Ginger Barber Nash, and the beauty is in the details: limestone tile, regal mahogany millwork, and a stone gas fireplace imported from Italy.

Luxury bathrooms with heated floors and marble countertops.

The luxury only increases as you tour the resort-style property, with en-suite spa bathrooms with heated floors, marble countertops, and massive walk-in closets. The outdoor grounds include a koi pond, herb garden, and a sparkling pool and spa.
