Voting Early? Important Information Every Houstonian Should Know

As thousands of Houstonians line up for early voting—it starts today, October 22, with 46 polling locations across the city (remember to bring an ID to vote!)—it’s quite possible this year’s midterms will see record numbers here in Texas, and hopefully you’ll be part of history in the making. You’ve registered to vote, after all, and plan to head to the polls either before early-voting-in-person ends on November 2, or on our general Election Day—Tuesday, November 6. But do you know who all your local candidates are, or even what to bring with you to your polling place, or where your polling place actually is?

If you still need some help, the League of Women Voters of Houston has just released its 2018 edition of the ever-handy Voters Guide to the Election and the Candidates.

The Voters Guide has long been a source of trusted, impartial information for Houston voters, explaining all elements of the election process and providing important insight into candidates’ backgrounds and opinions via a unique candidate questionnaire. Responses are reproduced exactly as supplied by the candidates without editing or verification. Plus, the guide  covers all contested races in Harris County as well as City of Houston ballot issues.

The Voters Guide is available in English, Spanish, and for the first time ever, in Vietnamese.

Houstonians can read or download the guide at lwvhouston.org. Happy voting, y’all!
