New Ways to Deck Out Your Windows Arrive with The Shade Store’s Highland Village Showroom

The Shade Store’s new showroom in Highland Village.

There’s a new way to window shop—literally—thanks to The Shade Store’s recent nationwide expansion, which includes the addition of a second Houston showroom. The 1,000-square-foot Highland Village outpost will complement an existing showroom in the Decorative Center Houston and marks the company’s 62nd showroom in the nation.

The Shade Store sells premium custom window treatments, including more than 1,300 designer fabrics, and, as the name suggests, shades of all sorts—roman, roller, motorized, UV ray-blocking, and more, all hand-crafted in the U.S., according to the company’s press release.

“Houston is one of our top markets; we’ve seen a strong response from the local interior design community since we opened our location in the Decorative Center three years ago,” said Ian Gibbs, The Shade Store’s co-founder and chief creative officer, in a press release. With its coveted location and range of top restaurants and boutiques, upscale Highland Village was “the perfect place” for a Houston expansion, Gibbs added.

The Store’s exclusive One King’s Lane collection

At 4022B Westheimer, the new showroom—which officially opened July 20—joins neighboring home and design retailers Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams, Restoration Hardware, Pottery Barn, Design Within Reach, Crate & Barrel, and Williams-Sonoma. This showroom was designed to have “a boutique feel,” the press release says, and will feature interactive design displays and expert design consultants to assist shade shoppers, who will also find recently launched, exclusive collections from Jonathan Adler, Nate Berkus, The Novogratz, One Kinds Lane, and Sunbrella, together offering “a bold mix of classic and modern patterns.”

It’s worth noting that The Shade Store, a family-run company, puts its name to good use: in partnership wtih the Arbor Day Foundation, a tree is planted for every purchase made.
