Wedding planners and Wanderlusters, meet your match. A new resort debuting in Austin this April aims to rival Texas Hill Country's most luxurious offerings, and if these stunning renderings teach us anything about the forthcoming Commodore Perry Estate, it's that its operators, California-based hospitality group Auberge Resorts Collection, sure knows how to make an entrance.
The resort is the first "urban" location for Auberge—known for its 19 incredible boutique-style resort destinations worldwide including one our writer Abby Ledoux recently traveled to in Anguilla—and it will likely to be one of the most-anticipated hotel openings of the year in Texas.
Though the resort is located in the heart of Austin, on the historic country estate of Edgar Howard Perry and his wife, Lutie, its 10-acre compound, including their 10,800-square-foot mansion (dating back to 1928) and enchanting grounds, feels fairly secluded, situated as it is along Waller Creek and a municipal golf course in Hancock Park. Between the mansion and a new building designed to mimic it, the Commodore Perry Estate will feature 42 hotel rooms and 12 suites. The lovely on-site chapel, pool area, and sunken gardens will surely make this everyone's favorite new destination-wedding buy out. The property is on the National Register of Historic Places.
