Nov. 16 | Discovery Green
Given actual, real-deal freezing temps this week, it's an auspicious start for the Discovery Green ice rink, set to open this weekend with the annual Frostival. Ice sculptors will be wielding their chainsaws live, too, although let's not forget the art cars and Grinch and Cindy Lou Who photo ops that'll be available.
Free. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney St. 713-400-7336. More info at discoverygreen.com.
Nov. 16–18 | Winter Street Studios
Wave bon voyage at the 13th and final Fresh Arts WHAM where guests can enjoy a signature mix of juried art sale (ft. 60-plus vendors) and holiday party (ft. live music and the all-important open bar).

Nov. 16–Dec. 30 | Alley Theatre
Among a steady onslaught of holiday fare from practically every arts organization in Houston, the Alley's old standby persists. This year, interim Artistic Director James Black will reprise the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, the character he first played nearly a quarter century ago.
Tickets from $37. Alley Theatre, 615 Texas Ave. 713-220-5700. More info and tickets at alleytheatre.org.
Nov. 17 | NRG Park
What do we know about Travis Scott's brand-new Astroworld Fest? Practically nothing! Does anyone care? Absolutely not! General admission tickets for the all-day NRG Park music event sold out ages ago despite a still yet-to-be-announced lineup. But that's okay. Management assures us all that Travis Scott (and whoever else he invites) will be ready to party on multiple stages in the Yellow Parking lot come showtime Saturday.
Tickets from $300 (GA sold-out). More info and tickets at astroworldfest.org.
Nov. 17 | Lawndale Art Center
More than 120 zine-sters will table at this year's festival dedicated to the freeform art of indie publishing. This year's theme? Wrestling, although we're sure the interpretations of that truly run the gamut.
Free. Lawndale Art Center, 4912 Main St. More info at zinefesthouston.org.
