WITH 2023 (FINALLY) AROUND THE CORNER, restaurants, lounges, and your favorite Houston hot spots are now gearing up for the city’s most festive New Year’s celebrations. It’s officially that time of year to pop open some bubbly (or another seasonally-themed cocktail of choice), cue the fireworks, and countdown into the new year with your fellow Houstonians. 

If your posse is still figuring out what to do, don’t worry: the city will be brimming with events. From laid-back get-togethers at neighborhood sports bars to luxe downtown soirees with decorative cocktails and savory eats at every corner, there’s a New Year’s event that fits whatever atmosphere you want to be in when you greet 2023. Dine at Brennan’s in Midtown or a’Bouzy in River Oaks for an elevated NYE evening, or Charleston your way over to the Four Seasons Hotel for the ultimate Roaring '20s extravaganza. Kids are welcome at the New Year’s Noon Bash at Children’s Museum Houston一which will feature a mid-day ball drop一or the family-friendly outdoor concert at CityCentre ending conveniently at 8 p.m. (meaning you can still make bedtime!). 

Regardless of what mood you’re in at the end of 2022, Houston’s late-night scene has room for all types of party-goers. Here are 23 places to ring in New Year’s 2023 in Houston.


Where to Eat on New Year’s Eve in Houston

NYE at Bosscat Kitchen and Libations

GALLERIA | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 6 P.M. | $60

What’s a fancier way to ring in the new year than with a four course meal? Celebrate NYE at Bosscat Kitchen and Libations in the Galleria-area with its special New Year’s menu, offering scrumptious selections like beef wellington, chicken and corn chowder, winter-themed cobb salad, grilled veggie ravioli, and pan-seared white fish. Topping off the night is a glass of champagne with a chocolate and bourbon buttermilk pie.

Trez Bistro and Wine Bar Tequila and Champagne New Year’s Eve Celebration

HEIGHTS | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 8 P.M. | $100–150

Tequila, cocktails, a complimentary midnight champagne toast, buffet, hors d'oeuvres, and a carving station will keep you going throughout a night of dancing with live music and various DJs. Enjoy dressing up for this fun, elegant event.

A four-course meal, live music from a DJ, and sparkling wine. Sound good? Head to Traveler’s Table for Viet-Cajun fried oyster, beetroot tartare, tea smoked duck, and other delicious amuse-bouche and entrees. For dessert, try Mexican-spiced flourless chocolate cake or New Orleans bourbon bread pudding. Finish off the night with spiked holiday eggnog as you welcome in the new year.

Use a saber to crack open some champagne at a’Bouzy. Splurge on the evening and order from an elegant French dinner menu, with options like stuffed wild Alaskan salmon or trout meunière.

Head over to Tony’s for a four-course meal with some special Telmont Champagne for a New Year’s toast. The lavish dinner will feature a live performance by Nick and the Hits at the second seating at 9:15 p.m. Both seatings will have a ball drop and a toast, and dinner options include pansoti, alba white truffles, butter poached lobster tail, and more.

Sparkling New Year’s Eve Dinner with Brennan’s

Drive over to this Houston favorite as the restaurant indulges you in Texas-Creole dishes. Featuring champagne and live music, Brennan’s NYE party is the place to say goodbye to the old and welcome in the new.

Karne, a new Korean steak house in the Heights known for their wagyu steaks, authentic Korean dishes, and seasonal seafood sourced from nearby MKT, will be hosting an upscale dining experience. DJ Demo Cruz will provide the tunes to accompany your six-course meal featuring seasonal dishes and amuse-bouches, in addition to Karne’s regular menu.

Southern Italian comfort food (featuring plenty of pasta dishes, prosciutto and mozzarella appetizers, and authentic gelato for dessert) is served in a casual atmosphere at Numero28 Highland Village. Their NYE festivities kick off with a cocktail-friendly lunch hour, followed by a dinner.

5th Annual New Year's Eve Celebration at The Roof on the Lake

The Roof on the Lake in Sugar Land is putting together a dinner buffet and champagne toast. Dance your way into 2023 with a live band and DJ. Don’t forget to take pictures for the 'Gram at the photo booth with party props to spice things up.

Rockin’ New Year’s Noon

Get cider-wasted with the kids at Rockin’ New Year’s Noon. The annual end-of-year bash returns to Children’s Museum Houston with nonstop fun starting early with a ball drop just like Times Square (only at noon, so way before their bedtime). 

Kemah's New Year's Celebration

KEMAH | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 1 P.M. | FREE 

If you’re looking for live fireworks to end 2022 with a beautiful bang, take a trip down to Kemah Boardwalk. Enjoy the free concert, take a ride on the Boardwalk Bullet, or indulge in some funnel cake before the light show. Plus, it’s casual, free, and family-friendly.

Noon Year’s Eve

CITYCENTRE | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 11 A.M.一1 P.M. | FREE

There’s no lack of New Year’s Eve events at CityCentre, and this year, you can bring the whole family to the plaza for an early celebration that includes a DJ, caricature artists, face painting, and temporary tattoos. This event will be fun for all ages. 

New Year’s Eve Concert

CITYCENTRE | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 3 P.M.–8 P.M. | FREE

End your year with a concert featuring beats from frequent CityCentre DJ John David Finney, and stick around for a performance by the Mockingbirds. A LuckyShots photo booth will be conveniently stationed nearby to capture all the good times.

New Year’s Eve in the Square 

REDEMPTION SQUARE | SATURDAY, DECEMBER 31 | 7 P.M. | FREE

If you’re looking for an entertaining NYE bash to take the kids to, plus some beautiful views of Lake Houston, Redemption Square will have live music and fireworks. While you’re there, you can also grab a bite at Bocca Italian Kitchen, or come back on Monday to pick up some late Christmas gifts at Pretty Little Things Boutique.
