if you want the best sweat sesh in the city, your search is over.
For the past five years, fitness subscription service ClassPass has recognized the top male and female instructors in each city it operates in. Last year's top spots for Houston went to Kymeko Taylor at RIDE Indoor Cycling and Zach West at Revolution Studio.
In 2019, Houstonians on ClassPass again overwhelmingly chose Taylor as their favorite female instructor in the city, favoring her high-energy, 45-minute spin classes at RIDE's Heights and Woodlands studios. This year's male award went to Antwan Hayes of Sugar Land's HIP Fitness, known for high-intensity, low-impact workouts on the Lagree Fitness Megaformer M3.
The 2019 Best of ClassPass Awards were determined by 28,777 votes across the country, plus a deep analysis of the more than 24 million studio and instructor reviews and ratings ClassPass users made in 2019. This year, ClassPass also named the top fitness studio in the city; for Houston, that was none other than SWEAT 1000.
Opened in 2018, this Heights studio is the sole U.S. location for the South African-based fitness concept—an acronym for Specialized Weight Endurance Athletic Training, with "1000" representing the number of calories burned during a one-hour, full-body intensive workout.
