Shaquille O'Neal will be DJ'ing at Sekai Night & Day this weekend. 

While the weather outside may be unpredictable, that isn't stopping the city of Houston. The month of December is kicking off with the 10th annual Tamale Festival and Red Bulls SoundClash at Bayou City Music Center. This weekend, grab your coat and enjoy what the Bayou City has to offer. 

Below, find five things to do in Houston this weekend. 

Tamale Festival 

Nothing says the holidays in Houston more than tamales. The 10th Annual Tamale Festival in Houston is back and better than ever this weekend.  The foodie festival has been an East End Houston tradition since 2011, and returns this year at Midway’s East River development. The family-friendly event will feature hundreds of homemade tamales from East End vendors and other local kitchens. In addition, take a gaze at art displays from local artisans, craft booths selling holiday merchandise, and live musical performances.

Tamale Festival at East River, 100 Bayou Street. Saturday, December 5  from 11:00 a.m. – 6 p.m. Complimentary tickets are available at the Harris County General Store Barbecue Co. and select local retailers, while supplies last.

H-Town Christmas Countdown Attraction

The H-Town Christmas Countdown is a brand new holiday pop-up that brings everything you love about Houston, Christmas and holiday movies to life in one magical place. The new attraction includes photo ops and 15 larger-than-life holiday movie sets that are done "Houston Style."

Red Bull SoundClash Concert at Bayou Music Center

Red Bull SoundClash is a unique concert mash up where two notable bands battle each other in four competitive rounds to create an innovative live music performance. The evening will feature Houston’s own soul and funk group, The Suffers as they face off against New Orleans’ Tank and The Bangas, hosted by musical icons Paul Wall and the Queen of New Orleans Bounce, Big Freedia.

DJ Diesel (aka Shaquille O’Neal) at Sekai Night & Day

When it comes to the world of basketball, many NBA stars dabble in music, and Shaquille O'Neal is no exception. The seven foot center has hung up his jersey for greener pastures. The former NBA star will be in Houston this weekend to spin as DJ Deisel at one of Houston's newest hotspots, Sekai Night & Day.

Hot Sauce Festival at Karbach Brewing Company 

Join Karbach Brewing Company for their first ever Hot Sauce Festival. Indulge in spicy salsas and new beer tappings, plus live music from The Slags and Gio Chamba. The festival is complete with tamale vendors, an artists market, and more.
