Spring is the season for nature: a time for flowers to bloom and nature awakens, so it’s no wonder that a new boutique hotel blossomed into Space City this month.

Blossom Hotel, which was a project three years in the making, made its official debut this month, with a sand pouring ceremony hosted by Blossom Hotel executives, and attended by Mayor Sylvester Turner.  The new 16-story hotel is located in the Texas Medical Center, and it has an interior design that has visual reminders of Houston’s aerospace industry.

Blossom is decorated with NASA-influenced architecture from Hangzhou Rongyi Creative Company. A mix of vibrant color palettes and fancy textures gives the hotel an oasis-like charm.

“The hotel chose the lunar theme because it pays homage to the international city that is Houston,” Randy Nemeth, Director of Operations for Blossom tells Houstonia.

When you enter the hotel, you’re greeted by a radiant waterfall in the lobby, and light fixtures placed throughout the property that are reminiscent of shooting stars.

“The name Blossom signifies the arrival of something new and good such as blossoming flowers,” adds Nemeth.

The vision for Blossom was to have it become a gathering place, and the hotel's central location is the ideal meeting spot, just minutes away from NRG Park, the Theater District, and tourist attractions like the Houston Zoo

The hotel itself has plenty for a staycation, it boasts over 9,000 square feet of leisure and event space, plus gyms equipped with Peletons, suites outfitted with Dyson blow dryers, and a rooftop swimming pool. It’s not hard to imagine it becoming the perfect spot for the Instagram-savvy influencer or business travelers who want a place to stay for a short trip.

The hospitality extends to the hotel’s restaurants, and the cozy in-house lobby bar and lounge, rendezVu, serving craft cocktails and tapas. The Cantonese-inspired Duck House and Japanese cuisine at AB Sushi round out the dining offerings. (Houstonia highlighted the two eateries in our look at restaurants to anticipate in 2022.)

The new build is expected to bring business to the growing commercial district in The Medical Center with its first grand opening initiative. If guests book now, they'll receive the grand opening special, which includes two tickets to The Infinite, the immersive, virtual reality experience located in Sawyer Yards. The hotel also has a newly announced Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo stay package.

Blossom Hotel is located at 7118 Bertner Ave. More information here.
